Orange chicken was in my long time “To-try” list. Have tried couple of recipes of it out of which this one is my favorite. The citric sweetness of the orange and honey in chicken gives it a A+ :).  Along with mushrooms, this chicken recipe turned out exclusive. the honey glazed tempting orange chicken recipe is here for you.

Orange chicken pictorial Description:

  • Chop chicken pieces to bite sized pieces. cook them with turmeric powder, chilly powder, oil and salt. pressure cook or cook them in a pan closed.
  • Add a cup of water and cook as we need the stock/ chicken cooked water for the sauce.
  • Once chicken is half cooked. strain the water and let the pieces get roasted. keep it aside when it gets slightly roasted.
  • Cool down chicken broth completely before starting to make the sauce. extract orange juice and keep it ready.
  • Take a bowl, Mix chicken broth, orange juice, soya sauce, honey, salt and pepper powder. Mix well. Add corn flower and mix well.
  • Now heat oil, saute in sliced onions, finely chopped ginger and finely chopped garlic.
  • Drop red chilli flakes into it.
  • Saute till onions are pink.
  • put in sliced mushrooms and saute till mushrooms get brown almost for 2 minutes.
  • Pour in the sauce mix along with roasted chicken pieces and salt. Close and cook again for 6 to 8 minutes in medium flame. the essence of sauce has to get into chicken and mushrooms.
  • Thereafter open and let it dry till the consistency you require.

Ingredients

  • 300 gms chicken
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp chilly powder
  • 1/4 tsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/8 tsp soya sauce
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 tbsp chopped ginger
  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 1/4 cup mushrooms sliced
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
