Valentine pizza recipe – #3 of the list is the Whole Wheat Heart Pizza which was perfectly baked, light, crisp and flavored right! I use to make Pizzas way long before my marriage then i got lazy to prepare the dough that i used to get the base from shop and load it with veggies and cheese and season as per our taste. I somehow lost the recipe which i was following but ya, Thanks to my friend, Preethi who gave this recipe. It was yummy. I have made few modifications to suit whole wheat and based on the quality of atta used.

You can make this Pizza and put them in freezer until next use. they will be perfectly fine for couple of weeks. I actually made two Pizzas..One for my Husband and one for me to have for dinner. It was so flavorful that i could not wait for him to come back from his work 😛 Gobbled it in seconds. Valentine Pizza, with all your favorite toppings. isn’t it a perfect idea to surprise?

Whole Wheat Heart Pizza ~ valentine pizza recipe Pictorial Directions:

  1. Proofing Yeast: I skipped this step totally as i was using instant yeast and i was sure it is activated. In case you are using active yeast which you feel has to be activated, then go for the below step.
  2. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and 1tsp sugar.  Let it sit for 5-10 min until it bubbles.
  3. Take Wheat Flour, All purpose flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Make a pit and pour in oil, activated yeast and remaining warm water.
  4. Mix well and initially the dough will be sticky. Work the dough until it gets elastic and smooth.
  5. Apply oil all over and set it in a greased bowl -covered for an hour until it doubles.
  6. Punch down the dough and transfer to a dusted work place. Cut slit the dough to how much pizzas you want. This recipe yields 4 Mini Pizzas/2 small.
  7. Gently tap the dough to shape it round, cut it with a knife to heart shape if needed and let it sit covered for 30 min before you bake.
  8. Preheat oven to 200 deg c. Pinch the sides to make it slightly raised. Prick with fork all over the pizza.
  9. If you are not going to top it immediately, then bake it at 200 deg c for 5 min until slightly baked.
  10. I made Veg curry Pizza, For this, Spread Veg Curry Base first followed by tomato puree, sauteed veggies (Onion, Bell peppers, Mushrooms) on top, sprinkle salt, pepper and finally with a load of grated mozzarella cheese, Mixed herbs and chilli flakes.
  11. Bake at 200 deg C for 15-20 min until cheese gets melted. Gobble hot!

  • 1 1/2 cup Wheat flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
