Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Rice cooked
  • 1/8 tsp mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp urad dal
  • ¼ tsp chana dal
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 3 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 medium –large sized onion chopped
  • 3 large tomatoes pureed
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½- ¾ tsp chilli powder
  • a pinch fenugreek powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp cashews broken

Instructions

  • Pressure cook rice until done but not mashy. Fluff it up with little oil and keep aside ready.
  • Heat oil, Splutter mustard seeds, then goes in urad dal and chana dal. Let it get slightly brown.
  • Add in curry leaves, chopped garlic, chopped cashews and mix well until garlic is browned.
  • Add chopped onions. saute until pink
  • Goes in Tomato puree.
  • Turmeric powder, chilli powder, fenugreek powder, sugar and garam masala. mix well and let oil ooze out.
  • Add salt and mix again.
  • when tomatoes are cooked and masala is thick. Add rice and mix well gently.
  • serve hot with papad and fryums.
