Curd Rice ~ Thayir Sadham

Curd Rice/Thayir sadham is one of the most popular south Indian rice served along with the meal. It is Steamed rice and curd along with the seasoning and vegetables/fruits.curd rice

A meal would get incomplete without curd rice. Making it yummier by seasoning and adding additional ingredients will take it a step higher.

Simple Curd rice and potato fry is enough to make my day Happy! 🙂 I know there are so many people like me who are in mad love with this one. My little one just 1.5 yrs old when he is hungry always keeps telling thayir mammu venam..means he wants curd rice! 😉

  1. Take cooked rice in a bowl
  2. Add curd
  3. Add milk
  4. Add more milk if using it later and if your curd is sour.
  5. Add grated carrots and mix well. set it aside. Chopped seedless grapes and pomegranate seeds can be added but its optional
  6. Seasoning: Heat oil, crackle mustard seeds, urad dal,
  7. Green chilli
  8. Curry leaves
  9. Finely chopped shallots. Cashews can also be added
  10. Fry until pink
  11. Add it to the rice.
  12. Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 cup curd
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • 2 no green chillies
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 3 tbsp finely chopped shallots
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves

Instructions

  • Take cooked rice,curd and milk in a bowl
  • Add grated carrots and mix well. set it aside.
  • Seasoning: Heat oil, crackle mustard seeds, urad dal,
  • then add green chillies, Curry leaves,Finely chopped shallots.
  • Fry until pink and Add it to the curd rice.
  • Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
