Kothamalli Thogayal or coriander chutney is easy recipe where fresh coriander is sauteed and ground to a coarse paste. Goes good with rice and dosa. Kothamalli Thogayal

We get the “nattu malli” or the super fresh coriander leaves variety which has tiny leaves and looks so fresh. Whenever we get that, we use to make thogayal and chutney on the very first day when its fresh.

When making it for dosa/idli. Grind it smooth with little water.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp chana dal
  • 1 tsp urad dal split
  • 5 nos red chilli
  • 10-12 nos shallots
  • 1 handful coriander leaves
  • 1 large pinch tamarind
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Heat 2 tbsp oil, crackle urad dal,chana dal, red chilli, shallots until chana dal is red.
  • Add coriander leaves and tamarind. mix until coriander leaves shrinks
  • Add salt and mix. Let it cool and grind to a coarse paste
