Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shallots
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • 2 red chillies
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 no clove
  • 1 tsp khus khus
  • 1/2 inch cinnamon
  • 3-4 medium tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp fried gram

seasoning:

  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • 1/2 tsp chana dal

Instructions

  • Heat oil, saute shallots, garlic, Red chilli, curry leaves until shallots turn brown
  • Add fennel seeds, clove, khus khus, cinnamon and mix well
  • Add chopped tomatoes and saute until mushy
  • put in grated coconut, salt, fried gram and mix well.
  • Grind it to a smooth paste
  • Heat oil, pop in mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal.
  • pour the ground masala, turmeric powder and add water. Let it boil for 5 min on medium flame. serve Hot with dosa/idli!
