Soak Idli rice in water overnight. grind it to a thick paste with very little water
Soak urad dal in water for 30 minutes and grind it to a thick paste
Powder fried gram to a fine powder, sieve it and keep it ready
to the ground idli batter, add salt, chilli powder, cumin seeds, black sesame seeds, fried gram powder, urad dal paste, butter and mix well. batter should be thick
now prepare the kitchen press with 5 holes. fill in the batter
spread a clean white cloth and make murukkus in it in circular motion from outer ring to the centre inwards. do not make circles more than 2 round.
push it onto the back of perforated ladle
put in hot oil gently and fry both sides until brown and the sizzle of oil stops.
