  • 1 cup raw rice
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 cup drumstick leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated coocnut
  • 1 pinch asafoetida


  • Soak the raw rice in water overnight.
  • Transfer it to a blender, Add salt and chilli powder. Grind it to a fine paste with very little water. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
  • Add cumin seeds,  asafoetida, drumstick leaves , grated coconut to this. Add a little water and mix to a smooth watery batter.
  • Take a ladleful and pour in to a medium hot dosa pan. maintain the heat medium and cook it on both sides without covering. Add enough oil and turn sides and cook until both sides are done.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney.
