Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 1/4 cup tur dal
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 spring curry leaves
  • 10-15 nos shallots
  • 1 large tomato
  • 2 no carrots - sliced
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 pinch asafoetida

Instructions

  • wash and soak rice and dal in water for 30 minutes
  • Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, splutter mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Add curry leaves, chopped shallots, chopped tomatoes
  • Add sliced carrot to it
  • fry for 2 minutes in medium flame.
  • Add the soaked rice to this. add turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt needed
  • Add water in 1:4 ratio
  • Close and pressure cook for 4-5 whistles. If making it for babies, cook for more whistles. Open and mash it well
  • serve warm with a dash of ghee.
