Ingredients

to grind raw

  • 1/2 cup coconut
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 2 no cloves
  • 1 no cardamom
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1 medium onion - finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp poppy seeds - soaked in hot water for 15 minutes
  • 2 tbsp fried gram
  • 1 medium tomato - chopped roughly
  • 4-6 long green chilli
  • 2 tsp cashews

to make the curry

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 medium onion - chopped
  • 3 medium potatoes - chopped
  • 2 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp salt

Instructions

  • Grind everything given under " to grind section" raw to a fine paste
  • heat oil in a cooker and crackle cumin seeds.
  • add chopped onions and chopped potatoes. fry them for 2 minutes on a high flame.
  • after 2 minutes, add curry leaves, prepared kurma paste, turmeric powder, 3 cups water or as desired
  • pressure cook for 4-5 whistles. let the pressure settle before you open.
  • serve piping hot with hot idlis.
