heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard seeds and drop a spring of curry leaves. let the mustard seeds crackle.
chop the onions roughly and add it to pan. fry until it is brownroughly chop tomatoes and add it to the fried onions. saute it for a minute or until slightly mushy.
Further, add the finely chopped snake gourd pieces and fry for a minute. to this, add the cooked moong dal.
add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder and asafoetida.
Furthermore, add water to bring it to the thin consistency
Close and cook until snake gourd is cooked and is mashable. You can also pressure cook to speeden the process.
Open and add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
