Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1/8 cup moong dal
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/8 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tbsp chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup grated carrots
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/8 tsp chilli powder

Instructions

  • take rice and moong dal in a bowl, wash well and soak in water for 30 minutes.
  • heat oil + ghee in a pan and pop in mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped onions and fry well. together add chopped tomatoes, grated carrots.
  • mix well and add water. add turmeric powder, salt to it. water to be added is 1:3 ratio.
  • drain and add the soaked rice with little of chilli powder. mix well until well combined. close and pressure cook for 4 whistles in medium flame.
  • open once the pressure settles down completely. mash it up well and serve hot or pack it in lunch box.
