Phool makhana:

heat oil and ghee in a pan. once it melts, add phool makhana or the lotus seed nuts /fox nuts in the pan and start roasting it. it has to be roasted in simmer until it turns crisp. test it by pressing one of it and it should be easily breakable.

add turmeric powder, salt and mix well. pack it in their snacks box or have it as a tea time snacks.

there is one more version of carrot khichdi here. take rice and moong dal in a bowl, wash well and soak in water for 30 minutes.

heat oil + ghee in a pan and pop in mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped onions and fry well. together add chopped tomatoes, grated carrots.

drain and add the soaked rice with little of chilli powder. mix well until well combined. close and pressure cook for 4 whistles in medium flame.

beans poriyal for babies:

there is nothing special in this recipe but little less spicy and simple method of making beans poriyal for babies. unlike the actual beans poriyal recipe.

heat oil in a pan and pop in mustard seeds, chana dal and urad dal. add chopped and washed beans. add salt and turmeric powder. Add enough water. close and cook until the beans is done.

  • 1/2 tsp oil
  • 1/4 tsp ghee
  • 1/4 cup lotus seeds
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste

  • heat oil + ghee in a pan and roast phool makhana or lotus seeds until crisp and crunchy. check by pressing a piece and it should be easily breakable. 
  • add turmeric powder, salt and switch off. mix well.

  • 1 tsp ghee
