Ingredients

  • 3/4 tbsp urad dal split
  • 3/4 tbsp chana dal
  • 2 - 2 1/2 tbsp flax seeds
  • 5-6 long dry red chilies
  • 3-4 medium sized tomatoes - finely chopped

seasoning

  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal

Instructions

  • Heat oil, crackle urad dal, chana dal until slightly brown.
  • Put in Flax seeds and let it pop. while it starts popping, add red chilies and roughly chopped tomatoes.
  • Add salt and let it cook until tomatoes are mushy.
  • Grind it to a smooth paste. Transfer to a bowl.
  • For seasoning: Heat oil, splutter mustard seeds and urad dal. pour on the chutney. mix well and serve with dosas or idlis.
