Mushroom batter - to deep fry

  • 200 gms mushroom - finely chopped
  • 1 cup cabbage - grated
  • 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup flour - maida
  • 2 tbsp corn flour
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala

to make kaalan masala

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium onion - finely chopped
  • 1.5 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1 pinch dry mango powder
  • 1/2 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 3/4 cup water


  • Mix everything given under the Mushroom batter - to deep fry.
  • add water little at a tiime and mix to a thick sticky batter.
  • heat oil and deep fry the mushrooms until golden. keep aside until use.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and add chopped onions and ginger garlic paste.
  • saute for a minute and add chilli powder, turmeric powder, dry mango, chaat masala and garam masala.
  • add water and let it come to a rolling boil.
  • add fried mushrooms and adjust salt.
  • keep cooking on high heat until the moisture is absorbed and it becomes semi thick.
  • serve it hot topped with grated carrots, chopped onions and coriander leaves.
