Capsicum subzi | side dish for chapathi
Easy to prepare Punjabi style capsicum subzi..
Capsicum – 1 no cut into medium sized pieces
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Jeera powder – 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Fennel seeds-1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Onion – 2 big nos – roughly chopped
Tomatoes – 2 nos – roughly chopped
Green chilli – 1 no
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Cashew – broken 2 tsp
White sesame seeds – 1 tsp
Heat oil/ butter , splutter fennel seeds and add bay leaves .. fry in simmer until fresh aroma comes out . Grind all the ingredients given under ‘ to grind’ section above and add to the gravy. Add all the powders to it (garam, jeera,chilli) and fry in simmer until the oil oozes out and it becomes thick and tangy…
Now add the cubed capsicum pieces and fry it. I prefer it to be little crunchy.. if not u can add it after frying it seperately.
Add little water and salt and let it boil.
Once gravy is ready to the consistency u require, switch it off and add Kasturi methi and fresh cream to it…yummy subzi ready 😊 good with rotis, chappatis, naan..!
