Mushroom mezhukkupuratti ~ Kerala style mushroom stir fry

Mushroom mezhukkupurattiMushroom mezhukkupuratti simply means stir fry in oil/  coated with oil similar to porial in tamil. Classic  version of mezhukkupuratti is by grinding red chilly,onion and cumin and mixing it with vegetables and stir fry them in coconut oil. But nowadays there are many versions of it coming up!

Mushroom mezhukkupuratti directions:

  • Firstly, Clean the mushrooms twice or thrice and finally with turmeric wash. Then, chop them
  • Coarsely Grind onion, red chillies,  garlic clove and cumin seedsMushroom mezhukkupurattiMushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • Heat coconut oil in a wok,Mushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • put in cleaned and chopped mushroomMushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • further, add the coarsely ground masalaMushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • next, add salt Mushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • a pinch of turmeric powder. Need not add water as mushroom tends to leave out water.Mushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • Fry for 2 minutes, and let it cook for 4-5 minutes in medium flame until mushrooms are almost cooked.Mushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • After 4-5 minutes,Mushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • mash it slightly, mix well,Mushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • furthermore, add little chilli powder Mushroom mezhukkupuratti
  • and fry for a minute. Mushroom mezhukkupuratti

Ingredients

  • 1 Packet Mushroom
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 1/4 tsp coconut oil

To grind

  • 1 Large Onion roughly chopped
  • 1 large garlic clove
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds

Instructions

  • Firstly, Clean the mushrooms twice or thrice and finally with turmeric wash. Then, chop them
  • Coarsely Grind onion, red chillies, garlic clove and cumin seeds
  • Heat coconut oil in a wok,put in cleaned and chopped mushroom, coarsely ground masala, salt and turmeric powder. 
  • Close it and cook in medium flame until mushrooms are almost cooked. mash it slightly, mix well, furthermore, add little chilli powder and fry for a minute.
