Instant Badam milk powder recipe for babies above 8 months+. Hygienic and healthy drink mix made at home with almonds, saffron, turmeric, elaichi/Cardamom and sugar.
I prefer to make it in a batch for every two weeks so that it stays fresh and aromatic. Of course not a big deal to grind 5 ingredients together in blender and store it. Takes less than a minute. So make it fresh for every two weeks.
Ingredients needed :
- Almonds -1/2 cup
- Saffron strands a pinch
- Elaichi/Cardamom 1 no
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
- Sugar 2 tbsp
Directions for Badam milk drink mix:
Clean the blender and make sure there is no water droplets hiding in. Take time cleaning it with towel and drying it completely. Now once its clean, put in all the 5 ingredients mentioned above and grind together to a coarse powder.
If you try to make it very fine. Almonds tend to leave out oil and thus your drink mix will get oily and cloggy. So here are tips to avoid it.
- Grind in small batches
- Take almonds from freezer and grind them immediately when its frozen.
- Keep the Almond milk powder little coarse. Not too fine and not too coarse.
If you follow these instructions, it will not let out oil.
When you make drink, add a tsp of this drink mix to warm milk. Mix well.
If serving badam milk to babies less than 1 year, filter it and then serve. Since we have powdered it coarse, tiny particles may cause choke. Better to filter and then serve them.
