methi sambar recipeMethi sambar recipe | Vendhaya keerai sambar – an everyday recipe of sambar with methi/fenugreek leaves and drumstick. this version of sambar is made with sambar powder and is a kind of instant sambar recipe which we call it as podi sambar.  this is good for both rice and dosa/idli.

heat oil and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds. let it splutter and add chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, drumstick and methi leaves.

fry until it wilts/shrinks. add water, salt, turmeric powder, tamarind water.

mix well, close and cook until vegetable is done. open and add cooked dal and sambar powder.

mix well and add asafoetida a pinch. mix well and boil for 5-10 minutes. add ghee and mix once.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1/2 no tomato chopped
  • 2 no drumstick chopped
  • 1/2 cup methi leaves
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 2-3 tbsp tamarind water
  • 1.5 cups cooked tur dal
  • 2 tsp sambar powder
  • a pinch asafoetida
  • 1 tbsp ghee

Instructions
