Drumstick pulp & peanuts thokku

14/10/2016 By Jinoo Jayakrishnan Leave a Comment

Muringa kadala thokku is a kind of curry recipe with drumstick pulp and peanuts. This is my mother’s one of the signature recipe. During drumstick season where we get tooooo many drumsticks from our tree, we give it to everyone around, neighbors, relatives and friends. Still we will be finding surplus amount of drumstick and she use to make this thokku during that time.

Scooping out the pulp from drumstick is only going to take your time. Otherwise, this recipe is very simple and tasty one. I just love it when had with mor curry or sambar with ghee.

Peanut addition is my try as i find the texture of the dish very smooth and soft. I felt addition of some crunchiness in between would be better. So i added peanuts to it. Skip it if you don’t have fresh peanuts handy.

Directions for drumstick pulp thokku:

  1. Cut the drumsticks to 1 -1.5 inch length. Cook it along with little water, salt and turmeric powder to 4  whistles.20161014_085930

    Mix well and stir well

  5. Now to this, put in cooked peanuts and the drumstick pulp. Cook it for a couple of minutes until well blended with spices. Do not overcook after adding the pulp as it will leave out too much water and thokku will become watery.
