Sathukudi rasam | Mosambi rasam – Sweet lime recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 lemon sized tamarind
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 inch ginger crushed
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 no green chilli slit
  • 1/2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/8 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp sambar powder
  • 1/8 cup cooked and mashed tur dal
  • 1.5 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp rasam powder
  • 4 no sathukudi/sweet lime

Instructions

  • make juice of 4 sweet lime and keep it ready.
  • boil tamarind in 4 cups water. boil it and keep it aside until use.
  • heat ghee and oil and crackle mustard seeds.
  • add asafoetida, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, crushed ginger, curry leaves and coriander leaves, green chilli.
  • fry for half a minute.
  • immediately add boiled tamarind water, chilli powder, sambar powder, cooked and mashed tur dal, salt, rasam powder and mix well.
  • let the rasam come to a boil. When it starts to boil, switch off and add the sweet lime juice.
  • serve hot with rice
